Chocolate Chip Oat Cookies

They're Vcon's Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies. Delicious, delicious! I just had one for breakfast ;)

Go make some!!!

Lately I've been addicted to Schoko Haferlinge and wanted to make my own version. So far I still like them better than the Vcon ones though. They were more neutral and on the crumbly-crispy side (but I guess all American Cookies are supposed to come out chewy so I didn't expect them to taste like my new favorites).
I added some cornstarch to the batter and doubled the baking time to get crispier cookies. I was also out of vanilla extract and used 1/4 cup less sugar.
Next time I'll try relpacing some of the oil with a little applesauce and make the cookies smaller and flatter so they'll hopefully be Lizzy-crispy enough when they're done!

Yummy, cookies for breakfast. Every once in awhile I like a soft, thick cookie, but I prefer crispy cookies, can't really find good, fresh baked crisp cookies here very often. So we just eat Newman O's, they're crispy and chocolatey.

i had to catch up on some of your entries!! everything looks amazing though! that cake looked incredible...with the whole banana slices inside, and those cupcakes were so cute!! I liked the idea of leftover mousse on the banana pieces with the cashews on top too!!

Well, they look crispy...
About tahini: I had a Mitbewohner from Cyprus, and they use a lot of tahini there. I learned everything from him! What I use is like 1/2 cup of soy yogurt, and a big full teaspoon of tahini. Then I add lemon juice if I'm not lazy, and pepper and salt. It's reeeeeally good.

I was eyeing the recipe the other day when I was re-reading my Vcon book.. great to hear that it's a good recipe! I will make some as soon as possible!

yummy cookies ... I have to admit, I like soft, chewy cookies better :0) But I still like cruncy, crispy cookies sometimes - like biscotti :0)

Hrmm... I know to make crispy cookies, manufacturers sometimes add shortening to the cookie batter *evil* but I don't think the cookie that you like have that in them :0) Maybe it's the inclusion of oat flour and oats that makes them crispier?!

I buy them at Bio Company. Basic carries the oat cookies, too. Just not the chocolate chipped one.

Don't you just love it when you know someone to whom this is a totally basic ingredient while for us it's something unknown? Ugh, I just wish I had an asian friend who'd go to the asian supermarket with me. Da sind so viele sachen von denen man überhaupt nicht sagen kann was das sein könnte =p

Cecilia - True! I checked the ingredients and they use non-hydrogenated shortening. So I went out to buy shortening just to see at home that it's "partly hydrogenated" ugh... I'll try it nevertheless!
